I only have 3 mods installed and it's a eat any meal at anytime mod, a zombification potion that removes the zombie effect and a get abducted on command mod. All three are package files. Try this first and see if the game runs normally again. The other way to restart a completely Vanilla game which requires you to move not copy and paste or create a shortcut the entire Sims 2 folder from the EA Games folder to your Desktop.

If the game starts up, start a game and play for about an hour to insure that nothing else happens with the game. I am instilling Ultimate Edition from Origin itself. I tried moving the sims 2 folder and it did nothing but recreated itself with the same two folder of "teleport" and "log" and crashed yet again. I am not using mods and haven't even gotten the game to actually start. Sounds like something didn't install right with the game itself. Uninstall the game and try reinstalling it.
So, make sure the EA Games folder is deleted. Once we get the game running the EA Games folder should generate itself upon the first time the game is started up.

I had the game working for quite some time, but I needed to repair the game from Origin because it was saying some of the files had disappeared and it was no longer launching. The 4gb patch has applied, afaik. I installed the patch and it worked I used to have the pink glitch in the neighborhood view and in-game. Following all of this I can now play! This was a life saver!
