Firstly, lets try to get decent render settings in the scene wihout any texture maps or environments. Now go to the "Renderer" tab and do the settings as below. We can get a good and fast render for previewing purposes with these settings:. Always remember, that when we take a test output in Vray, with no lights put up, always keep the "Default Lights" option in "Global Switches" rolldown ON, else the output will be completely black, as there are no lights at all!.

These renders are mainly to check the anti-aliasing in the scene. Lets now add an HDRI in the scene. I, for this example will be using the one below. Its called " Snowfield ". An HDRI is a set of techniques that allows a higher range of radiances or luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging. An HDR image is created from a set of photographs of the same scene taken with different exposure levels of the camera.

Lets see an example of this in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Check out the slider at the left bottom of the screen. With this we can see the different radiance values stored in the HDRI. Well, getting back to the main point.

Lets add the chosen HDRI in the scene. In the " Renderer " tab, scroll down to " Environment " section. Click on " None ". This brings up the VrayHDRI map in your Material Editor, where you can play around with the map, and as it has been Instanced with that in the Renderer, every settings you do will get reflected in the rendering output.

So, click on browse and load whichever HDRI is suitable for you. We can clearly see here that the ambience of the scene has been affected.

Let it remove the old install and proceed. Copy the files copied in step 2 back into the plugins folder. Follow the directions in the Vray Help file on how to do DR. You should be able to launch the Vray DR Spawner.

Download Vray 1. Hello, I made a little mistake in my previous comment. Hi there guys i have installed Vray 1. Though it works just fine besides the distributed render. Any explanation? BTW does the same even with a clean install of vray 1.

Excellent discussion going on here… El Man cant upgrade to sp1 if distributed rendering doesnt work to its full capacity. I read your comment about a work around way to run distributed rendering. It worked for me on my home network. If you have an older version that works, let it work. Without my workaround, DR does not work on this verion of Vray. Animal Logic Mayaman 2. Noone knows? What did the people do that installed vray in max just fine?

So…please give some link to vray version witch goes with max 64bit…plz. Thanks :D. I would like to have vray 1. Here is the process: These steps should only be done on the computers which will be the rendering slaves.

Ensure plugin works by doing some testing. It should still be at the SP 1 version. Thanx for your help. Its working fine.
